WSYC 88.7 FM is the student-run non-commercial radio station at Shippensburg University. WSYC is primarily comprised of Communication/Journalism students, but our doors are open to all academic majors and minors who wish to be on the air and/or create content for us. Our officers are dedicated Communication/Journalism students who volunteer their time to make WSYC a great radio station in a professional environment.
There are many opportunities for students at WSYC other than being a DJ. You can be a social media manager, production engineer, sales manager, business director, live events board operator, or music director. You could even have your own podcast on sports, music, college life, etc. Anything is possible with WSYC!
WSYC was created to provide student training in the fields of radio and audio production, to serve the public interest, and to be an instrument of expression for the university community in accordance with the rules and regulations of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).
In addition to playing music, students can be an announcer who broadcasts various sporting events, public service interviews, and newscasts. If you want to interview new artists in the music scene, talk to record promoters, or work with music label professionals around the world, it's all possible.
